A photo watermark remover that shows you what it will remove

Visible watermarks come in many shapes: a semi-transparent name across the middle, a small studio logo in a corner, a signature, a “sample” stamp or a date. Erazely’s watermark remover scans your image for these marks and outlines likely candidates, but nothing is removed until you confirm it. If detection misses part of the mark, select it yourself with the brush, rectangle or smart select tool.

Once the area is marked, Erazely treats it as missing and fills it with texture borrowed from the rest of the image, then blends the edges. Watermarks that include text or a brand mark can also be handled with the text remover or the logo remover, which use the same editor with presets tuned for those marks. For watermarked documents, use the PDF watermark remover.

Step by step

How to use the watermark remover

  1. Step 1

    Add your image

Drag and drop, paste from the clipboard, or choose a JPG, PNG or WEBP file. On a phone you can pick from your gallery or camera.

  2. Step 2

    Review the suggestions

Erazely scans for possible watermarks, logos and text, and highlights what it finds. Confirm with “Remove it”, or dismiss it.

  3. Step 3

    Refine the selection

Missed a corner? Paint it with the brush, box it with the rectangle tool, or trim the selection with the eraser.

  4. Step 4

    Remove and compare

Erazely reconstructs every selected area in one pass. Drag the slider to compare, then download as PNG, JPG or WEBP.

Assisted detection

Let Erazely find the mark

Instead of making you paint everything by hand, Erazely suggests areas that may contain a watermark, logo, text or date stamp.

  • Text overlays and captions
  • Semi-transparent watermarks
  • Corner logos and badges
  • Film-camera date stamps

You stay in control.

Erazely suggests a region, but you decide what gets removed. Every suggestion can be confirmed, ignored or refined.

Example: Erazely highlights a possible date stamp in the corner of a beach photo and asks whether to remove it.
Example: a corner logo on a product photo painted over with the brush tool.

Manual control

When precision matters, take control

Assisted detection is useful, but sometimes you know exactly what needs to go. Paint, box or refine the area yourself — and mark as many areas as you like.

  • Brush B

Paint over the mark. Adjust size and softness.

  • Rectangle R

Box text, stamps and logos in one drag.

  • Smart select S

Click a solid mark to select it.

  • Eraser E

Trim the selection where it went too far.

  • Undo & redo Ctrl Z

Every stroke can be taken back.

  • Zoom & pan Space

Get in close for fine detail.

Reconstruction

More than blur. Real reconstruction.

Many watermark removers simply blur the mark. Erazely uses PatchMatch, a patch-based inpainting algorithm, to rebuild the selected region from matching texture elsewhere in your image.

  2. 02Selected mask
  3. 03Patch-based reconstruction
  4. 04Clean image

Blur

Smears the mark into a soft, obvious patch.

Clone stamp

Copies one nearby area by hand and often repeats visible patterns.

Erazely

Blends many matching patches from the scene so texture and edges line up.

Erazely generates a plausible reconstruction of the selected area. It doesn’t recover the original hidden pixels — nothing can — so it’s designed to make the repair blend in naturally.

Tips for the cleanest result

  • Cover the whole watermark, including its soft glow or outline. A few extra pixels of margin helps.
  • For a repeated (tiled) watermark, remove one region at a time and use “Keep editing” between passes.
  • Semi-transparent text often leaves a faint ghost — paint over it again and run a second pass.
  • Zoom in (Ctrl + scroll or pinch) to select thin strokes precisely.

Good to know

  • Large watermarks over faces or detailed subjects may need a second pass or manual refinement.
  • Results are a plausible reconstruction of the area, not the original pixels underneath.
  • Invisible watermarks and provenance metadata are not detected or removed.

Honest expectations

Best results depend on the image

Reconstruction works from what’s around the mark. The more context it has, the better the result. For large marks over important details, plan on a quick manual refinement.

Strongest when

  • The mark is small compared to the image
  • The background around it has useful detail
  • The selection covers the mark accurately
  • The mark isn’t covering faces or key details

May need refinement

  • Large marks covering important details
  • Marks crossing faces, hands or text you want to keep
  • Busy, repeating patterns like fabric or brickwork
  • Very small or heavily compressed images

Your images are yours.

FAQ

Watermark Remover FAQ

Still curious? Email us.

Which watermarks work best?

Small to medium visible marks — corner logos, signatures, text overlays and semi-transparent stamps — on backgrounds with useful surrounding detail.

What if detection misses the watermark?

Detection only suggests areas. If it misses something, select it yourself with the brush, rectangle or smart select tool. Everything you mark is removed in one pass.

Can I remove watermarks from stock photo previews?

No. Use Erazely only on images you own or are authorized to edit. Stock previews are licensed content — license the image to get a clean copy.

Does Erazely remove invisible watermarks?

No. Erazely works on visible image elements only. Invisible provenance technologies and metadata-based ownership information are a different category and are not removed.

How can I remove a watermark without losing image quality?

Erazely only changes the pixels inside your selection — everything else is left exactly as it was. Keep the selection tight around the watermark, and download as PNG for lossless output. Images keep their resolution up to 4,096 px on the long edge; larger images are scaled to that size before editing.

Which image formats does Erazely support?

Erazely accepts JPG, PNG and WEBP images up to 25 MB, and you can download the result as PNG, JPG or WEBP. PDF documents up to 50 MB are supported in the PDF Watermark Remover.

Are my images stored?

In the current version, no. Images are processed in your browser and are never uploaded to Erazely servers. If we introduce cloud processing, this answer and our privacy page will be updated before it ships.

Is watermark removal legal?

Only remove marks from images you own or are authorized to edit. Removing copyright notices or other ownership indicators from someone else’s work may violate rights or licensing terms. Erazely isn’t a way around licensing, paid previews or creator attribution.
