Erase distractions without reshooting

A great photo is often spoiled by one small thing: a stranger walking through the background, a traffic sign, a power line across the sky or a bin at the edge of the frame. The object remover lets you paint over the distraction and replaces it with background built from the surrounding scene, so you keep the framing and resolution of the original shot.

Object removal works best for small to medium objects in front of backgrounds with texture to borrow, such as sky, grass, sand, water or plain walls. Big objects that fill much of the frame leave little to rebuild from. For tiny specks and scratches, photo cleanup is quicker; for captions and stamps, try the text remover.

Step by step

How to use the object remover

  1. Step 1

    Add your photo

Drop, paste or choose an image. Works with JPG, PNG and WEBP.

  2. Step 2

    Paint over the object

Use a brush slightly larger than the object’s edges. Include its shadow and any reflection.

  3. Step 3

    Remove it

Erazely rebuilds the background from the surrounding scene and blends the edges.

  4. Step 4

    Refine if needed

Compare with the slider. If traces remain, keep editing and paint over them for a second pass.

Tips for the cleanest result

  • Always include shadows — an object removed without its shadow looks wrong immediately.
  • Remove large objects in two or three smaller passes rather than one huge selection.
  • Objects in front of simple backgrounds (sky, sand, walls, grass) give the cleanest results.
  • Use the eraser to protect nearby details you want to keep.

Good to know

  • Objects that cover a large share of the frame leave little context to rebuild from.
  • Objects overlapping a main subject (like a person’s face) are harder to remove cleanly.
  • Busy, structured backgrounds such as text or detailed architecture may need manual refinement.

Your images are yours.

We don’t want your photo library. In this version, detection and reconstruction run inside your browser — your image is never uploaded to our servers.

FAQ

Object Remover FAQ

Still curious? Email us.

Can I remove people from photos?

Yes — especially people in the background. Paint over the whole person, including their shadow. For people close to the camera, expect to refine the result.

Can I remove several objects at once?

Yes. Paint or box every object, then press Remove once. Erazely reconstructs all selected areas in a single pass.

Why does the result look blurry in places?

Large selections over complex texture are harder to rebuild. Try a smaller, tighter selection, or remove the object in parts.

How can I remove a watermark without losing image quality?

Erazely only changes the pixels inside your selection — everything else is left exactly as it was. Keep the selection tight around the watermark, and download as PNG for lossless output. Images keep their resolution up to 4,096 px on the long edge; larger images are scaled to that size before editing.

Which image formats does Erazely support?

Erazely accepts JPG, PNG and WEBP images up to 25 MB, and you can download the result as PNG, JPG or WEBP. PDF documents up to 50 MB are supported in the PDF Watermark Remover.

Are my images stored?

In the current version, no. Images are processed in your browser and are never uploaded to Erazely servers. If we introduce cloud processing, this answer and our privacy page will be updated before it ships.

Is watermark removal legal?

Only remove marks from images you own or are authorized to edit. Removing copyright notices or other ownership indicators from someone else’s work may violate rights or licensing terms. Erazely isn’t a way around licensing, paid previews or creator attribution.
