Remove captions, labels and date stamps without cropping

Cropping is the usual way to get rid of unwanted text, but it throws away part of the picture. The text remover keeps the full frame: box the caption, label, overlay or date stamp and Erazely fills the area with background reconstructed from the pixels around it. Detection looks for text overlays and film-camera date stamps automatically, and the rectangle tool selects a whole line in one drag.

Text on flat or gently textured backgrounds — screenshots, skies, walls, product backdrops — usually disappears cleanly. Text over faces or detailed objects may need a tighter selection or a second pass. If the text is part of a watermark or brand mark, the watermark remover or logo remover may be the better starting point.

Step by step

How to use the text remover

  1. Step 1

    Add your image

Drop, paste or choose a JPG, PNG or WEBP. Screenshots work well too.

  2. Step 2

    Confirm detected text

Erazely looks for text overlays and date stamps and highlights possible matches. Confirm the ones you want gone.

  3. Step 3

    Box anything it missed

The rectangle tool is the quickest way to select a line of text. Draw as many boxes as you need.

  4. Step 4

    Remove and download

All selected text is removed in one pass. Compare, then download.

Tips for the cleanest result

  • Box the full line of text with a little padding above and below the letters.
  • Text with a drop shadow or outline needs the shadow included in the selection.
  • For screenshots, flat UI backgrounds rebuild almost perfectly.
  • Film-camera date stamps are usually in a bottom corner — detection is tuned to look there.

Good to know

  • Text crossing faces or detailed objects is harder to remove cleanly.
  • Long paragraphs over photos are best removed a few lines at a time.
  • Erazely removes text; it doesn’t replace it with new text.

Your images are yours.

We don’t want your photo library. In this version, detection and reconstruction run inside your browser — your image is never uploaded to our servers.

FAQ

Text Remover FAQ

Still curious? Email us.

Can Erazely remove date stamps from old photos?

Yes. Date stamps from film cameras are a common, well-suited use: small, high-contrast and usually in a corner.

Can I remove text from screenshots?

Yes — for screenshots you own. Flat interface backgrounds give very clean results.

Does it work on handwriting?

Often, yes. Select handwriting with the brush; thin pen strokes on paper rebuild well.

How can I remove a watermark without losing image quality?

Erazely only changes the pixels inside your selection — everything else is left exactly as it was. Keep the selection tight around the watermark, and download as PNG for lossless output. Images keep their resolution up to 4,096 px on the long edge; larger images are scaled to that size before editing.

Which image formats does Erazely support?

Erazely accepts JPG, PNG and WEBP images up to 25 MB, and you can download the result as PNG, JPG or WEBP. PDF documents up to 50 MB are supported in the PDF Watermark Remover.

Are my images stored?

In the current version, no. Images are processed in your browser and are never uploaded to Erazely servers. If we introduce cloud processing, this answer and our privacy page will be updated before it ships.

Is watermark removal legal?

Only remove marks from images you own or are authorized to edit. Removing copyright notices or other ownership indicators from someone else’s work may violate rights or licensing terms. Erazely isn’t a way around licensing, paid previews or creator attribution.
